History of

The Mountain

The mountains surrounding Basho Valley are part of the southern reaches of the mighty Karakoram Range, one of the most geologically active and elevated regions on Earth. While Basho itself may not boast towering peaks like K2, its surrounding ridges and valleys have played a crucial role in the lives of local communities for centuries. Historically, the valley served as a summer pasture and seasonal transit route for nomadic herders and traders navigating the rugged terrain of Baltistan.
